Give your Italian-inspired dishes an extra burst of peppery, aniseed flavour with your own Potted Basil Plant from Organic Blooms. Carefully cultivated and sustainably grown in Organic Blooms’ nursery, this delicate basil plant comes potted in a plastic- and peat-free pot which is completely compostable.

The perfect base for your pesto, basil truly sings alongside tomatoes and soft cheeses, dressed simply with salt and olive oil. Or add to your summer punches, cocktails and sorbets, for a tasty and refreshing treat.

You should be able to use a little of your organic basil right away, but it's best to grow the plant on for a couple of weeks before giving it a bigger chop. This plant is right at home on a sunny kitchen windowsill, but if it outgrows the space, it’s also easy to repot. Then you can simply compost the fibrous pot it arrives in. This is an annual plant so once it finishes for the winter, it won't regrow next year.

Producer

Jo Wright and her team at Organic Blooms work hard to bring organic flowers to your door. Based in Gloucestershire, they run as a social enterprise, providing jobs for those who might struggle in a traditional workplace. Horticultural therapy is at the heart of what they do – gardening and plant-tending being excellent options for those with varying support needs. We work with them to plan upcoming crops, making sure each flower is reliable, interesting and satisfying for their staff to grow. We’re proud to say that, because of our support, they’ve been able to hire more people than ever before.
