Our teardrop-shaped, organic Red Onion Squash has distinctively rich, chestnut-flavoured flesh that’s delicious roasted with garlic and rosemary. Smoother than butternut squash, it makes a wonderfully velvety soup and can be added to hearty autumnal salads too. This variety is also known as Uchiki Kuri, Potimarron, Orange Hokkaido or Red Kuri squash.

Jeremy Helme’s Pool Hullock farm is just on the Welsh border, by the village of Llandinabo. It’s a little family farm, where Jeremy also grows our more weird and wonderful things (including chillies, squash and Jerusalem artichokes).

Storage & prep

To prepare simply cut into chunks and cook as desired. The skin does not need to be removed. It is best used as an ingredient in soup or roasted and seasoned along with other vegetables. Onions squash should be stored in a cool dry place. Don’t forget to wash your fruit and veg before use.
