Christmas Daisy

A tart and fruity pitcher drink that's perfect for parties. A daisy cocktail is a sweet and sour cocktail that was the forerunner of the margarita. Daisies always include something sweet, like agave syrup. Plus something sour, such a grapefruit juice. And something fiery, which is normally the booze. In the case of this Christmas cocktail, that's gin. Refreshing and easy to mix, this is a fabulous festive tipple.

Ingredients

  • 180ml ruby grapefruit juice
  • 90ml London dry gin
  • 50ml triple sec
  • 50ml agave syrup
  • 750ml prosecco frizzante, chilled

Prep: 10 mins + chilling | Cook: nil

Method

1. Pour the grapefruit juice into a pitcher jug. Add the gin, triple sec and agave syrup. Add a couple of handfuls of ice to the jug and stir for 1-2 mins to mix and chill everything. Top up the pitcher with the chilled prosecco and briefly stir. Serve straight away.
2. Get Ahead
You can mix the grapefruit juice, gin, triple sec and agave syrup together and store in the fridge for up to 12 hrs. When you're ready to serve the cocktails, fill 6 tall glasses with ice and pour in the grapefruit mix. Top each glass up with prosecco and briefly stir to just mix, then serve.
