In the summer of 1987, Craig Sams, the man behind Whole Earth and Green & Blacks, was mixing up something special in his kitchen for a bash at the Groucho Club. He wanted to appeal to alcohol-free drinkers, and came up with Gusto Original Energy, a deliciously natural energy drink that proved an instant hit with clubbers and ravers in the late ‘80s.
