You should be able to use a little of your organic basil right away, but it's best to grow the plant on for a couple of weeks before giving it a bigger chop. Keep in a warm, sunny spot (outdoors is fine if the weather is nice) and harvest regularly to encourage new growth. This is an annual plant so once it finishes for the winter, it won't regrow next year.
