Chioggia beetroot is the ‘Where’s Wally’ of the organic world. It takes a sharp knife, not a sharp eye to find the distinctive red and white stripes here though. It has a slightly milder taste than your common beetroot, which makes it excellent sliced raw into salads (and it makes them pleasing on the eye too).

Ingredients & allergens

Abel & Cole handles celery, celeriac, peanuts and nuts on site. Due to our packing process and re-use of boxes there is a risk of cross-contamination from these, and all other allergens.

While we do everything we can to ensure the information on this page is correct, ingredients, nutritional and dietary information are subject to change. So along with the information on our website, we always recommend that you read each label carefully before enjoying your items

Storage & prep

There is no need to peel or cut our raw beetroot as it will retain its colour and nutrients through cooking if left unspoiled. Gently scrub the beets to clean thoroughly, and twist off the green tops (these are great washed and thrown into a salad!). To boil, put the beetroot in a pan of water, bring to the boil and heat for 40 - 45 minutes. It also works wonderfully when baked or roasted. Beetroot is naturally quite high in sodium so you don’t need to add salt. This vegetable will keep for a fairly long time. To keep at its best, store in a cool area until you are ready to use it. Suitable for home freezing.

Matters of the heart & soil
Organic farms by nature, save the long term fertility of the soil by allowing worms, insects and more to flourish. There are more living organisms in a handful of good soil than there are people on earth.
