You may have seen these grapes in small delicatessens. They have a deep blueish hue that makes them look cold and richly sweet. They’re a gorgeous variety of medium-sized grapes grown by one our friends in Sicily. They make a stunning addition to a summer cheese board – try them along side our Somerset brie and our North Italian Riserva Prosciutto Crudo. Country of Origin - Spain Class - Minimum Class 2 Variety - Summer Royal (week commencing 23rd October)

Producer

Gianni Gallo based in Pedalino in the Ragusa area of southern Sicily grows some of our grapes during the summer months. Along with grapes, he is an expert at growing vine tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. ***OR*** These juicy grapes are grown on Diego's Farm in Murcia, where they have also starting growing some organic exotic fruits. Diego is the 3rd generation. His grandparents grew wine grapes and his father and uncles started growing table grapes. When they're not in season in Europe, these grapes come from a farm in South Africa. Eddie is a 4th generation pioneering grape grower. His family discovered how the rich soils and hot summer sun give beautifully sweet and juicy grapes and so they became one of the first to export from South Africa. Eddie converted his whole farm to organic in 1998 pursuing a desire to produce in the most environmentally friendly and healthiest way.

Storage & prep

Grapes make a great addition to sweet and savoury salads, and are wonderful to eat on their own. Grapes will keep fine in your fruit bowl, although they last longer in the fridge. Use within four or five days of delivery.

Where the wild things are
We all love butterflies, birds and bees. Choosing organic is better for the environment. Organic farms encourage wildlife and biodiversity (by not using chemical sprays, and by having more hedgerows, fallow land and wildflowers).
