Please do not eat these beans raw.

These organic Borlotti beans are beautiful things that almost look like they've been hand painted. However, it's when the bean pods turn brown, that tells us the bean inside is coloured and ripe. When the bean pods look their best, the beans inside are still white and unripe.

Borlotti beans are commonly used in Italian and Greek cooking so are great for combining with Mediterranean flavours. They're excellent for brightening up salads, and with their smooth, sweetish flavour make it taste amazing, too.

Storage & prep

De-pod these beautiful little shiny beach pebble lookalikeys. Boil your beans till tender and toss with olive oil, lemon juice and zest, and black pepper. Or toss them into a garlicky tomatoey stew with sautéed veg. If you want to slowcook these beans do make sure you dry them first, and please don't eat them raw. Don’t forget to wash your fruit and veg before use.
