It’s no wonder that okra pods have made their way into so many of the world’s cuisines. Originally grown in Africa, its long, ridged pods go by ‘bhindi’ in India where it soaks up spices and ‘ladies’ fingers’ in the West where it thickens stews and soups.

Organic okra has a subtle and somewhat aubergine-like flavour, perfect for seasoning and stir-frying with stronger elements. The pod can be cooked whole or sliced into fascinating star shapes, showing off the rows of edible seeds inside. Whatever you call it, however you cook it, okra is an impressive ingredient that’s ready to mingle with every culture and cuisine.

Organic okra is extremely hard to come by so we're thrilled to be working with Robert from Orgacado. He works directly with growers in East Africa to bring organic fruit and vegetables into Europe. This source of income is vital to these communities and Robert and his team support them to make sustainable choices.
