Glinwells
British organic tomatoes are cropping up thanks to Glinwells, a family run tomato nursery in St Albans.
Growers Joe and Sam grow their beautiful tomatoes in rich organic soil and natural fertiliser without a jot of pesticide nonsense. When it comes to protecting the plants from pests and disease they like to keep things au naturel with sticky traps, mini spiders and wasps. These critters aren’t the only wildlife inhabitants - tomato plants love bees. Great news, because bees love pollinating plants, which is why the greenhouses are filled with many busy hives.
And not a drop of water goes to waste (or polluted with fertiliser residues and dumped into waterways, for that matter). It’s all collected, sanitised and recycled back into the plants. We think this is certainly the start of a beautiful friendship.
