Susie Hewson was spurred into action back in 1989, after watching a documentary on the effects that Dioxin – a chemical off-shoot of the bleaching process used for period products – has on us and the environment. Susie immediately set about coming up with a responsible personal healthcare alternative that would treat women’s bodies, and the planet as a whole, with a little more respect. Lo and behold, after much hard work and dedication, Natracare has created the world’s first certified organic cotton tampons and plastic-free period pads. For the past 30 years Susie’s been putting people and the planet first, winning her the inaugural Oak Award in 2018, for her outstanding contribution to the organic sector.
