What makes me special?

- Broad beans come in thick, fibrous pods and need to be shelled – a great, mindful activity to enjoy with the kids or after a busy day

- Young tender beans can be eaten fresh at the start of the season
- As the season goes on, the beans are best steamed or sautéed

Ingredients & allergens

Abel & Cole handles celery, celeriac, peanuts and nuts on site. Due to our packing process and re-use of boxes there is a risk of cross-contamination from these, and all other allergens.

While we do everything we can to ensure the information on this page is correct, ingredients, nutritional and dietary information are subject to change. So along with the information on our website, we always recommend that you read each label carefully before enjoying your items

Storage & prep

Your broad beans are sleeping in their blankety beds, here's how to wake them up. Snap off the top of the bean pod and pull the string down one side. Open out the pods with your thumbs and gently push out your beans. Pop them in a pan of hot water and simmer for just two minutes. Drain and refresh. Slip them out of their greyish skins to reveal the bright green bean inside. Enjoy on toast, with salads, stirred into pasta or with mint and a drizzle of olive oil as a perfect side. Don’t forget to wash your fruit and veg before use..

Outstanding in their field
Our farmers are brilliant. We talk to them every day and have close relationships with them all. It means we get the pick of their crop, and we make sure they get a fair deal too.
