Alcohol-Free Summer Sangria

This ingenious non-alcoholic twist on Sangria is made with English breakfast tea, brewed extra strong to release the tannins (they give both wine and tea that refreshingly bitter edge). It's mixed with cranberry and orange juice for sweetness and tang, plus a cool dash of lemonade for fizz.

Ingredients

  • 2 English breakfast tea bags
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 oranges
  • 500ml cranberry fruit drink, chilled
  • 300ml orange juice, chilled
  • A handful of mint sprigs
  • 300ml lemonade, chilled

Method

1. Fill your kettle and boil it. Pop the tea bags in a heatproof jug, then pour in 400ml boiling water. Set aside to steep for 20 mins.
2. While the tea brews, slice the lemons and oranges into rounds. When the tea has steeped for 20 mins, strain it into a large mixing jug and discard the tea bags. Add the cranberry fruit drink and orange juice with a couple of handfuls of ice cubes. Stir well to mix and make sure everything is chilled.
3. Add the fruit slices with the mint sprigs. Pour in the lemonade. Gently stir to mix and serve straight away in tumblers, with extra ice.
